Volunteering in Biertan for Medias Bike Marathon

Biertan, 9.09.2017 –

On Saturday we went to Biertan to be part of Medias Bike Marathon. We greeted bikers with water and snacks. We were powerful and filled with positive energy; nobody expected such a fun crowd. We danced throughout the whole day and even preformed a dance routine for participants and city visitors.

With our presence and spirit we showed what EVS and Erasmus+ volunteers look like and how happy we are for all the opportunities that we get through this experience. We truly are a family that loves spending time together on any occasion.

In the limited time that I’ve been here, I’ve learned that you never know what a new day will bring and how important it is to take every opportunity. Even working in a village on early Saturday morning can be a fun experience. That kind of attitude was surprising even for locals.

We gave all our energy to bikers in order to help them finish the race and not give up. Some of them even thought that it’s the finish from the way we greeted them! We shared smiles, waves and positive Romanian sayings, even locals joined us for the festivities. It’s really all about your attitude towards things.

We even had our ‘’aww’’ moments when we saw a couple that were competing together and supporting each other through it all. Even tired and exhausted they managed to smile to each other and us, they shared a kiss and continued with their race. People who support you in the moments when you feel like giving up are the ones you should keep around.
