Hiking in the mountains

“At some point in life, the world’s beauty becomes enough.”

– TONI MORRISON

Sighisoara, 2.09.2017 – On the first weekend of September we went on a two day hiking trip. We had an idea and we went for it (well, Sanja had the idea and the rest of us joined in for this adventure). We were not prepared physically nor mentally. We weren’t very equipped for spending the night in nature (when your bed, kitchen and bathroom is a forest) but we went with open minds and open hearts, and we had an amazing weekend. There even wasn’t reception so we were only using our phones to listen to some music by the camp fire. We talked and cooked together and got to know each other better, we found out that we have so much more to discover about each other.

In the morning we woke up a little frozen and caffeine deprived, so we started doubting if this is how we want to spend our Sunday. But since the first steps of our trail we knew that this is going to be an amazing adventure. The views were breath-taking and the air was so refreshing. In that moment no problems that we had in real life existed because there it was just us and nature. Only problems that were real for us was falling in the river one by one. But who cares and who needs shoes? Not us.

The walk and climb was challenging but the reward was worth it. When we got to the end of trail we didn’t believe that this is it, that there is only a walk back. We actually did it, all of us. We helped each other and didn’t leave anyone behind (no matter how much at some points we wanted to).

I believe that we are meant to meet different people at different paths of life to learn a lesson or two. And no matter if the lesson is good or bad we need be there at that moment to learn it. I’m learning every day to take every opportunity that life gives me and give my all to everything that I commit to.

So thank you to everyone that is part of my EVS journey, a page of my life cause this experience has thought me more than anything that I’ve done before.
